Pork Filling for Homemade Dumplings or Buns

This recipe for pork filling for homemade dumplings is delicious and is something you can use for other purposes too, like steamed pork buns! Some people choose to make dumpling wrappers from scratch while others purchase the dumpling skin wrappers from stores. Either way, you can make great dumplings with whatever dumpling wrapper you choose! Making good dumpling filling is really easy. Just make sure your vegetable ingredients are finely shredded, meat well ground, and aromatics minced or grated well.

This pork and cabbage filling is great for dumplings and buns.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork

  • 1/4 head napa cabbage

  • 2 stalks scallion

  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing rice wine

  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil

  • 1 tablespoon salt

Directions

  • Chop napa cabbage into 2 inch cubes, wash, and drain well. Then place in an electric chopper to shred. Transfer shredded napa cabbage to a large mixing bowl.
  • Wash and finely chop the green onions (throw out the ends).
  • Add ground pork, green onions, soy sauce, Shaoxing rice wine, sesame oil, and salt. Mix everything until all ingredients are evenly combined. Once mixed well, you are ready to use it in dumpling wrappers or as a filling for other dishes.
